we love gaming
(maybe a little too much)
We’re Josiah and TJ, two avid tabletop gamers with too many board games. In 2019, we decided to channel our combined love of DnD to change the world (one great game night at a time).
We produced our first one-shot adventure, A Christmas Carol Adventure, with the amazing support of our awesome Kickstarter community.
Hey, it’s because of you that we decided to keep writing, creating and delivering quality one-shot adventures compatible with Dungeons and Dragons 5e.
So, are you looking for a fun, one night stand with DnD?

Despite the amazing work of my team, our partners, and our artists, Love’n Fools was not fully backed via Kickstarter. The campaign that I had been building up to for the last 9 months was not successful.
Kickstarter is a crowded place, so to launch a successful campaign it’s important to know what you will need ahead of time. Specifically, what you're selling, how to make it look fancy, and making certain you know your numbers.
We’ve been fans of other people’s Kickstarters since before our own launch of A Christmas Carol Adventure. So many Kickstarters have amazed us, and as a company we’ve backed quite a few. Individually, our founders have backed projects as well.
We don’t have the time or space to list every project we liked / loved / supported, but here are a few we felt stood out for us.
I know what you’re thinking, “How can I launch my Kickstarter and be successful like them?” I have 5 tips for you to accomplish just that!
Welcome to Verge Games, where we push the bounds of one-shot DnD campaigns because, well, we want to!
It’s time to announce the great news - we’re launching a new Kickstarter campaign!
November, 2019: We launched A Christmas Carol Adventure. And then we surpassed all expectations and goals to make over $20,000 with an original goal of $6,500.
Yep, I’m going to tell you how we launched a successful Kickstarter with no money or marketing experience.
Ever sat at the table for a game and played with a DM that was half asleep? Did nothing but read from a book and look at the table? Then you have been at a low-energy table, you poor unfortunate soul.
DMing is live entertainment and much like its 2nd cousin, theater, there is a common need to bring the energy! It is essential to keep players (and yourself) engaged.
Multitasking is not about doing all the things as the same time. Multitasking is about switching between all the things at high speed.
Improv is the art of making things up on the fly. Improv is not a lack of planning. Improv is the ability to change the plan without anyone noticing. But you have to have a plan to change.
Much like the cavemen of old, you will need to bring to life an imaginary world for the enjoyment of everyone sitting around your table. And to do this you will need a bit of acting.
Saying no is never easy. It can be particularly hard in certain circumstances. But it is crucial to establish boundaries for your game to work properly. Sometimes you need to shoot down a character idea/build because it is too powerful, or it didn’t make any sense. Sometimes you have to let a player fail. Sometimes you have to protect your other PCs from annoying or reckless behavior.
If I had to guess, probably the number one thing that keeps people from jumping into the DMs seat is this: all the preparation, the rules, and scheduling ultimately are the responsibility of the DM running the game.
